Okay, so I’m sat here watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the umpteenth time and a random thought occurs to me – how do vampires speak?
It has long been established in a variety of different media that vampires are the undead, and as such they lack the ability to breathe, amongst the many things they can’t do because of their undead status. How then can they speak? Audible speech is the result of air passing through the voice box and out through the throat and mouth, but if vampires don’t breathe then they have no air in their lungs to pass through those elements that turn noise into words.
I know this is not something that matters in the grand scheme of things, but it occurred to me, and now I’m curious about it – I’m sure the answer from most people will me MAGIC, or don’t overthink things, but my brain is a funny thing and I like to know proper answers to this kind of thing.
